NOLAN SCHOOL OF MOTORING

Terms & Conditions

Please read the following terms carefully. They explain the conditions that apply when booking driving lessons and using the services of Nolan School of Motoring.

1. Driving Licence

Pupils must hold a valid UK provisional or full driving licence that entitles them to drive the vehicle used for tuition. The pupil must provide evidence of their driving entitlement when requested by the instructor, including before their first driving lesson.

Pupils must inform their instructor immediately of any endorsements, disqualification, revocation or other changes that may affect their legal entitlement to drive.

2. Medical Conditions and Fitness to Drive

Pupils must inform the instructor of any medical condition, disability, medication or special requirement that may affect their ability to drive safely or legally.

The instructor reserves the right to refuse to begin or continue a lesson if there is reasonable cause to believe that the pupil is unfit to drive safely, including where the pupil appears to be under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

3. Driving Lessons

Driving lessons will normally take place for the duration agreed when the booking is made. Nolan School of Motoring will make reasonable efforts to begin and finish lessons at the agreed times.

If tuition time is lost because of circumstances within the instructor’s control, the outstanding tuition time will be made up at a mutually convenient time.

4. Lesson Prices

Current standard lesson prices are:

  • 1 hour: £40
  • 1.5 hours: £60
  • 2 hours: £80

Any block-booking discount or promotional offer will be subject to the conditions stated at the time of purchase. Nolan School of Motoring reserves the right to alter lesson prices. Existing pupils will be given reasonable notice of any change.

5. Payment

Payment for driving tuition must be made in accordance with the arrangements agreed with the instructor. Unless otherwise agreed, payment should be made before the lesson takes place.

6. Cancellations

A minimum of 24 hours’ notice is required if a pupil wishes to cancel or rearrange a driving lesson.

Where less than 24 hours’ notice is provided, the pupil may be charged the full tuition fee for the lesson booked, unless otherwise agreed with the instructor.

If Nolan School of Motoring needs to cancel or rearrange a lesson, the pupil will not be charged for tuition that has not been provided.

7. Mechanical Breakdown and Circumstances Outside Our Control

Lessons may occasionally need to be changed or cancelled because of vehicle breakdown, severe weather, illness, road conditions or other circumstances outside the reasonable control of the instructor.

Where possible, pupils will be informed as soon as reasonably practicable and alternative arrangements will be made.

8. Driving Tests

The DVSA practical driving test fee does not include the cost of using the driving-school vehicle or any tuition immediately before the test.

The instructor is not automatically obliged to provide the driving-school vehicle for a practical driving test. Use of the vehicle is subject to the instructor being satisfied that the pupil is sufficiently prepared and able to use the vehicle safely.

Pupils should discuss their proposed practical driving test with their instructor before booking or changing a test date wherever possible.

No lesson hours are automatically reserved or held back for a practical driving test.

9. Vehicle Availability for a Driving Test

If the agreed driving-school vehicle becomes unavailable because of mechanical failure or another circumstance outside the instructor’s reasonable control, reasonable efforts may be made to provide or arrange an alternative vehicle where practicable.

10. Safety During Driving Lessons

The purpose of driving tuition is to develop safe, responsible and independent driving. During a lesson, the instructor may give verbal instructions or take appropriate control of the vehicle where reasonably necessary for safety.

A lesson may be terminated if the pupil drives in a manner that the instructor reasonably considers dangerous or repeatedly refuses to follow safety-related instructions.

11. Driving Outside Lessons

Pupils are responsible for their own driving whenever they are driving without their instructor, whether before or after passing the practical driving test.

Driving tuition does not remove a driver’s personal responsibility to comply with road traffic law and drive safely.

12. Block Bookings and Prepaid Lessons

Where lessons are purchased in advance, the credit will be applied to future driving lessons in accordance with the price and conditions applicable when the booking was made.

Requests for refunds of unused prepaid lesson credit will take account of lessons already provided, discounts applied and the conditions agreed at the time of purchase. This does not affect any statutory rights the pupil may have.

13. Validity of Prepaid Lessons

Unless otherwise agreed, prepaid driving lesson credit should be used within 9 months of the date of purchase.

If circumstances prevent lessons being taken within this period, pupils should contact Nolan School of Motoring as soon as possible to discuss any remaining credit.

14. Conduct

Nolan School of Motoring aims to provide professional tuition in a safe and respectful environment. Abusive, threatening, discriminatory or otherwise unacceptable behaviour towards the instructor will not be tolerated and may result in tuition being discontinued.

15. Complaints

If you are unhappy with any aspect of your driving tuition, please contact Nolan School of Motoring as soon as possible so that the matter can be discussed and, wherever possible, resolved.

16. Privacy and Personal Information

Personal information provided to Nolan School of Motoring will be handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy and applicable UK data protection requirements.
